Embark on a journey through the enchanting world of Baja California's holiday traditions. This season, our focus turns to the distinctive regional decorations that adorn local homes and spaces, celebrating the cultural diversity of this beloved town.

Delving into the cultural history of the beloved poinsettia reveals its indigenous origin and integral role in Christmas traditions. Known as cuetlaxochitl (kwet-la-sho-she) in its original Nahuatl name, the Aztecs cultivated this vibrant plant long before the arrival of Europeans in the Americas. Beyond its striking red and green foliage that seamlessly aligns with the Christmas color palette, the cuetlaxochitl held significant cultural importance. Used by the Aztecs for decoration, dyes, medicines, and culinary purposes, this versatile plant was also known as noche buena. Its association with the Christmas season began in the 16th century when missionaries introduced Catholicism to indigenous communities in Mexico. The plant, later called poinsettia, played a pivotal role in Franciscan friars' Nativity scenes in Taxco, southwestern Mexico.
Whether referred to as poinsettia, la flor de Nochebuena, cuetlaxochitl, or another name, this attractive plant stands as an iconic floral feature during the festive holiday season, intertwining its roots with the rich cultural legacy of Mexico.
Your cherished club has been transformed into a stunning haven, adorned with vibrant poinsettias, encapsulating the enchanting holiday spirit that fills every corner!
